At Henley Day Nursery we are passionate about providing quality early years experiences in an environment that gives choice, sparks curiosity, reflects the interests of the children and instils and life-long love of learning.
Your child’s journey with us starts with the first visit to our setting where we take the time to get to know your child, find out their interests and how they like to learn. These initial interactions will ensure we are providing personalised learning and supports the secure attachments we need for a successful start in the nursery.
Our ethos of learning through play encourages a child’s curiosity and fosters holistic development in a calm environment where the children are given the time to explore and build on their skills and knowledge with the support of our experienced team of professionals.
Our curriculum is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework, ensuring we build firm foundations for the children’s next step into primary school.
Communication and language
Communication and Language where we develop listening, attention, understanding and speaking skills.
We use a range of activities including baby signing, Makaton, daily story and rhyme times and show and tell for our pre-school children.
Physical development
Physical Development supporting the development of gross motor skills from our babies, using tummy time sessions, to our older children, having regular PE and yoga sessions in our hall.
There are many activities provided to encourage fine motor skills for all ages supporting our babies to have good hand eye coordination up to a child holding a pencil in pincer grip ready for writing.
Personal, social emotional development
This is where we support the children to build self-confidence, manage emotions and form positive relationships. It is really important that we build a strong relationship with our families and the children attending the setting, this is why we offer every family a home visit before their child starts so that we can begin to make those relationships. Every child will have a key worker which provides a secure base for the children supporting their emotional security and, joined with a consistent routine for each room, will promote calm and confidence in the children. All children will have access to our sensory room which will support emotional self-regulation and cognitive growth.

Forest School
Through our partnership with Rupert House School we are able to utilise the wonderful Forest School provision, just a short bus ride away.
The area is in a beautiful woodland environment where children can play, and be creative in the great outdoors. The space features a pond, vegetable planters and a covered outdoor classroom.
